Am I immediately registered once I have applied?
No, the GP practice reviews your registration and determines whether your request for registration is accepted. You will receive a message about this from the relevant GP practice.
Why can’t I choose from more GP practices?
You can only register at a GP practice near where you live. To be able to provide googd care it is important that patients live close to the GP practice. This allows general practitioners to collaborate with other healthcare and social care providers in the neighborhood, such as the neighborhood social team. Furthermore, the general practitioner can quickly visit a patient at home if necessary.
I already have a GP in this area. Can I switch to another GP?
If you’re registered with a GP who’s actually too far away (more than a 15-minute commute), you can use this search website to find a GP practice closer to you.
If you’re already registered with a GP near you but want to see a different one, the GP practice will likely want to discuss this with you first, as they prioritize those who don’t already have a GP nearby.
I would like to register my child/partner at my GP practice. Can I use this website?
If you’re already registered with a local GP practice and want to register your child and/or partner with the same practice, you can contact your GP practice directly. Practices will do their best to make room for this.
What should I do if there is no GP practice open for new patients in my area?
If all GP practices in your area are closed to new patients, you can choose to be put on the waiting list. As soon as a GP practice in your area opens to new patients, you’ll receive an email notifying you. You can then register via the search page.
